Tonight’s our last meeting! (so sad) But it will be an awesome last meeting! Our graduating members will be sharing with us. They’ll encourage us, share with us some experiences, and just give us some thoughts for us to take home. You’re not going to want to miss this!

In other news, we had our end-of-the-year party last Friday. And it was totally dope. We had a great turn out with a ton of delicious food and played some crazy games of Catchphrase, foosball, and pool! Sorry if you couldn’t make it but don’t worry. BASIC loves its parties. There will be more, trust me!

We’re super excited to announce our 2012-2013 Executive Board! These students are totally cool and we’re looking forward to how God uses them to lead us throughout the next school year!

For president, David Fijas will be serving his second term. We couldn’t ask for a better boss!

Vice president is Eric Ennis. Follow him on Twitter – @eric_ennis. You won’t regret it.

Treasurer will be L’aoluwa Ayo Amuwo. Call her Ola and know that we’re in good hands with her!

Our secretary will be Dan Giles. I hear he has great penmanship. So he’s a keeper.

If you couldn’t tell, BASIC will be insane next year. God is going to do so much and we’re proud to have such amazing members to be a part of it all!

We have had an amazing last couple of weeks. The previous weekend we were at the BASIC Conference in Rochester, NY and we followed it up with an incredible night of testimonies during our regular Monday meeting.

I wish I could put into words how awesome the conference was. It took roughly 30 students’ perspectives to barely scratch the surface on how great of a weekend it was!

Here are a few highlights:

-Almost 800 students attended. That’s a good 200 more than average! The venue was literally standing room only.

-116 students were baptized during the conference. 116!! Wow! And 4 of our own were part of that! Tom and Amanda Ryan got the privilege of baptizing our students while hundreds of other students cheered wildly. It was incredible!

-After hearing from every BASIC Buffalo student who went, it turns out that every one of us walked away different, changed, encouraged, and refreshed. Praise God!

There’s no question that the conferences get better and better each semester. We’re so blessed by what God has done and so excited for what He’s going to do from here on out!

As for other news, the Spring semester is winding down! Only a month left! But BASIC Buffalo is going to push hard until the end. Tonight’s meeting is going to be awesome. It’s movie night! Easter is less than a week away so we’ll be watching The Passion of the Christ. It couldn’t be more relevant to this time of the year. You’re not going to want to miss this! 7pm, UB North Campus, Student Union 210. See you tonight!

We are fully into the BASIC Conference now!

Last night’s session was amazing! With Kim Walker-Smith leading worship, a message by Robert Madu, and an appearance from University of Rochester’s a cappella group, The Yellow Jackets, the whole night rocked! And it was only the first night.

Tomorrow, we’ll hear from Pastor Pierre DuPlessis, Pastor Mike Cavanaugh, we’ll get more worship from Kim Walker-Smith, and participate in some sweet workshops!

If you can, come out and join! It’s not too late. Check out more here.

Hey all!

First off, the BASIC campus blitz was an incredible success! Staffers from the BASIC National office came to campus Monday morning, camping out in the Flag Room on the second floor of the Student Union, hanging out and talking with students, while inviting them out to BASIC that evening. We packed the room that night which was super cool.

One of the staffers, Jonathan Burgio (follow him on Twitter!) spoke and six students gave their lives to Christ! Praise God! Afterwards, we ate grub and hung out, with most of the crowd staying much later than normal. What an amazing night! It certainly sparked something on campus and we’re expecting God to continue to do amazing things!

Speaking of amazing things, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the BASIC Conference. It’s so close! Only two weeks away! It’s not too late to sign up. Go to the BASIC National site and register today! You do not want to miss it! Kim Walker-Smith from Jesus Culture will be leading worship, plus some incredible speakers will be sharing with hundreds of BASIC students across the northeast!

As for those of you signed up and ready to go, expect some emails from Tom and Amanda Ryan soon outlining who’s riding with who, when we’re leaving, what to bring, etc.

One last reminder, there will be no BASIC this upcoming Monday, due to Spring Break. So enjoy your week off from school and we’ll see you on Monday, March 19th!

Hey everybody! Here’s the latest news! Take notes!

1) Our Weekend Away was a tremendous success! We had over 25 students together in the boonies and had a blast! Some amazing people shared their testimonies and it was incredible! Don’t feel bad if you couldn’t come because you can bet we’ll be going back!

2) Keep a lookout for the Campus Blitz coming up at the end of the month. We’re going to see some seriously awesome stuff go down! Stay tuned for more details.

3) Not sure what to do with your recyclable bottles and cans? Help us out and bring them to BASIC! The SA club with the most returns wins a seriously awesome prize and we get to keep the refunds on top of it!

4) Easily the most anticipated event of each semester is less than 2 months away! The BASIC Conference is coming up! We’re so excited to go! Plus, Kim Walker-Smith from Jesus Culture will be leading worship which is absolutely incredible! Next week we’ll start collecting money and registration forms.  Get more details at the official website here!

OK, champs, hope you wrote that all down. We have a lot going on and we couldn’t be more excited! Try to keep up!

(How many exclamation points are in this post? Sheesh…)

In less than 48 hours, BASIC Buffalo will be in ski country! Our semi-annual tradition of spending a couple of days in Gerry, NY at Chautauqua Hills Camp to hang out, eat food, worship, and learn far away from the distractions of school, work, etc. is happening this weekend!

The theme for this Weekend Away is titled, “I Was, I Am”. We’ll be hearing from some of our very own sharing about experiences in their lives where they saw God radically change them into who they are today. It’s going to be awesome!

If you’re going, you should of received an email from our fearless leader, Tom, on the details, including what to bring and who you’re riding with. If you did not get said email, shoot him an email and he’ll get that to you ASAP. The three most important things to remember: Bring $15, bring warm clothes, and bring your Bible.

If you’re not going, please do us a favor. Pray! We’re expecting God to do great things and for us to all come back changed. Pray that we experience everything that God wants us to experience while we’re down there. And be patient with us when we come back. We’ll all have a combination of fatigue and a spiritual high, and we’ll most likely be unbearable to be around!

See you when we get back!

What’s up, champions!  We had our first BASIC meeting of the semester last night and it was off the chain!
